So far this is the only example of a bilateral inversion – this design exhibits mirror symmetry about a central vertical axis (not the more usual rotational symmetry about a central point).

This mirror symmetry was inspired in part by the clear positional symmetry of the two Es, but also by a specific idiosyncracy of my own handwriting: namely that my capital Hs do indeed look like reversed capital Ns.

The eureka moment came when the central ELE ligature began to take shape. This may not the most immediately readable of my inversions, but the name Helen is familiar enough for the design to be read only one way – your brain has to make sense of that central vertical stroke somehow!
